"Good location, friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere."

"Indoor pool was too small. Cramped entrance, blocked by table tennis table. The Jacuzzi was just one small section of the pool which meant that it was the same temperature as the pool (not hot). Narrow gaps between tables in restaurants and could’ve done iwith a few more tables for two. Lack of choice in the. ‘ special’ restaurants for all inclusive guests. We had a problem with ants in our bedroom which they were unable to get rid of during our day. When we booked, we weren’t made aware that our room only had a shower which was extremely inconvenient. The listing stated bath or shower and did not explain that the bath option was only for very expensive rooms which weren’t on offer by Booking.com anyway."

"- Given a really helpful information sheet/map about local facilities and walks (so many hotels now give zero information and instead nag you to "download our app”) - Fresh fruits and wide range of hot options at breakfast, including baked beans and mushrooms. Also better brown bread than in our previous more expensive Madeiran Hotel - Peaceful rural clifftop location and huge sunny balcony facing the sea, with secluded corners where you can sit in sun or shade or be sheltered from wind - Good basics (mattress, hot water, large fresh white towels) and fittings, even if old, generally worked - Kind helpful receptionist and staff - So GOOD to have a bathtub, as they can be hard to find nowadays and are best for relaxation, good sleep and relieving aches, pains and sore muscles - Heater in room for cold evenings and sitting room in hotel had wood-burning stove - Different fresh salads every evening"

"- Dingy grey walls, dreary nylon curtains/bedspreads, faded pictures and white light bulbs in apartment, made rooms feel grim and unfriendly in the evening and when weather bad. (If you had good weather and were out in the evenings, this might not bother you so much) - In the evening, the restaurant felt closer to a factory canteen than a hotel, partly due to white overhead lighting and to puce tablecloths/chairs which clashed with the walls - Dinner main courses of variable quality - Condensation in apartment (possibly not a problem in summer) - Generally we thought some redecoration in relaxing co-ordinated colour schemes, plus warmer lighting, would cheer the atmosphere, but not cost so much that this friendly, stunningly located hotel ceased to be affordable"
