La Regalido

"The location of La Regalido is excellent as it is central to the pretty and bustling village of Fontvieille. We appreciated being able to stroll to cafés and restaurants. Our room was spacious and comfortable with a balcony overlooking the gardens and pool, which was delightful. Breakfast in the garden each morning was lovely, as was dinner. The food was good and staff were polite."

"We felt that although the hotel is styled well that there were issues with poor maintenance. Our room was spacious and nicely dressed but there were several small but annoying issues that were due to poor maintenance. The door to the bathroom did not fit properly and stuck if it was shut. Presumably the cleaners or housekeeper always leave it wide open after cleaning so they probably do not know this. Likewise a handle on a set of drawers came off in our hands on the first day but my husband was able to screw it back on with his pen knife. If fixtures were being checked regularly that would not happen. Most seriously, I was showering one afternoon after a swim and a heavy glass shelf in the shower fell and smashed on the floor of the shower covering my feet in broken glass. I was very shaken up by this although fortunately not cut, and I went to reception to report this. The young lady at the desk was polite and came and cleared it up and was efficient. To our surprise no-one followed up on this incident with an apology or to ask if I was alright after what was an alarming experience which ought not to have happened. The shelf ought to have been so well secured on the wall that it could not possibly fall off. The staff were polite but rather distant we felt. We stayed for seven nights and until the end of our stay staff had to ask who we were and which room we were in. We felt there could have been more interest shown in guests, perhaps a little more warmth and friendliness from them."

"Quirky beautiful old converted mill full of nooks and crannies. Excellent staff from start to finish, special shout out to Nicholas who went out of his way to make us welcome."
