"The size of the room was good and the view out to the forest was lovely. The staff couldn't have been nicer but were obviously working with a very tired product."

"Where to start! I will say, this is in no way directed at the staff who were all lovely. Black mould around the bath, a shower head that continually leaked which then ran down the back of the bath and out over the floor. Thin, threadbare towels. The hotel has obviously seen better days, it is extremely tired in all aspects. Baring in mind that there were a total of about 8 guests staying , the bathrooms and toiltes hadn't been cleaned. Dinner was something out of Faulty Towers for those old enough to remember! There were a total of 4 pairs for dinner. We ordered our food. My starter came out, I started thinking that they would bring the other starter out straight away. Oh, how I was wrong. I finished my starter and had my plate collected before the other starter came out. The same happened for the main course, which whilst tasty was pretty sparse, a piece of pork with a mushroom sauce with no vegetables or anything else. My coffee was ordered and arrived in a similar fashion. When we looked around, it wasn't just us! This was happening across the other tables. We were all looking at each other waiting for the penny to drop. I won't even comment on breakfast! The sting in the tail was the price! Of a 1 week trip this was the poorest yet most expensive experience. A real shame as it's a lovely location with friendly stafff. It could be so much more."

The hotel moves in a vicious circle - it obviously has few guests, it has to generate a loss, therefore it does not take care of basic maintenance (broken lock on the room, leaking toilet on the floor in the bathroom) and does not otherwise generous spa run on the expected level (cold water in the pool, the jacuzzi broken, saunas only turn on by request). All of this will bring an otherwise pleasant hotel with hard-working staff unnecessarily negative reviews and thus results in further loss of customers. just a death spiral. Advice to the owner: invest in maintenance, get the spa up to standard, improve marketing, bring more guests to the hotel. Maybe change the name and start again without a burden of negative reviews. This hotel has a potential!"

"How everything looked and the location. The service was so bad it was actually super funny. We had never seen such bad service and had not laughed so hard for a long time. The employees took every criticism on the chin and there were a lot of criticisms."

"We waited 20 minutes to meet any employee so we can check in. The receptionist then turned out to also be a cleaner, bartender, waitress and a cook. In all fairness, she did a decent job with what was asked of her. There was another woman and the manager and they were also trying to do everything. We had a reservation, but they had to find the rooms on the fly - they were surprised by our arrival. We had 4 rooms. In mine there was rotten pasta and salami in the fridge that smelled horribly. There were no towels in one of the others. The TV remote was missing from another. 2 out of 4 rooms didn't have electricity initially, so we had to find someone to get different power cards, which was a challenge. The bathroom in my room wasn't a separate room, but instead it was separated with a see-through glass which just sucks - it needs no explanation. There was no one at the bar most of the time, so we couldn't even get water. The restaurant was the worst. It didn't matter what you order, you always get a steak and french fries and for salad, you get Shopska salad. It was super slow, but on the other hand, very expensive too. It was really funny how the three employees kept lying to us when we asked for something and you never knew what you were going to get. So with the right mindset you can have a lot of fun with how comically bad the service is."

"The staff was friendly and one spoke English. The location is beautiful, very close to the Rila Monastery and good restaurants nearby. The hotel feels like it has great potential, or perhaps once was a nice hotel... but has deteriorated massively."

"The room was fine, but not that clean. The bathroom tiling had lots of holes in the walls. No shower curtain, so the bathroom was soaked. The restaurant was WEIRD. We were the only people there (and it was huge). No vegetables available from the menu, and very strange selection of food. Only one Bulgarian dish. We skipped the breakfast because the plates were filthy and the food looked old. The "spa" has all the amenities you would expect and want at a spa hotel... but clearly it hasn't been cared for in years. The pool was cold and dirty, the jacuzzis were not functional, the sauna was falling apart, the steam room smelt weird, and the showers were broken. Even though we'd booked a time to go, as requested, they turned on the saunas as we arrived and they were cold. Again, has potential but the whole place is super strange and empty and kind of feels like a front for something else... it felt sad."

"Room was big and the hotel has the best location in the middle of the mountains. Also the personal, specially the two young ladies, are superhelpful and do the best they can with the little resources the hotel apparently has."
